The Merchant of Shadows

Under the name of "Le marchand d'ombre" (the Merchant of Shadows), Sébastien Mittig creates illuminated objects with the mission to make life more magical.



Born in 1968, lives and works in Caen, France.
Sébastien Mittig grew up in Brazil and arrived in Caen at 14 years old. He kept the taste for elsewhere and studied Spanish before exercising various professions. In parallel, he developed a passion for Art Brut [Outsider Art] and participated during four years to researches conducting in 1995 to the opening of the "Jardin de la Luna Rossa" Museum, involving unpublished works of ten artists from the west of France. In 2004, he started full time creation of luminaries and opens the Atelier 121 workshop. He has exhibited since then in Paris and western France.
